Lake Placid: Honeymoon in New York

On the day of our wedding we were asked if we'd like to go up to Lake Placid to stay in a friend of a friends lodge. Of course we said Yes! So the following day we met with our friends (Brian and Jess) and drove for the 4 hours.
When we got to the lodge of course it was pretty dark, so the picture taking began when we woke the next morning.
Looking out the window that morning all I saw were the beautiful colorful leaves.
Out my window ^

We spent the long weekend exploring the town. We found the BEST popcorn spot that called us back two days in a row. The gorgeous Mirror Lake (can be seen below) is just beautiful!!
Each day we made an amazing breakfast. On one of the mornings while the boys went to the market, Jess and I watched sex and the city and drank our coffee from the softest couch. :)
It was the most relaxing trip. Peaceful, and just exactly what we needed.

When we spoke about a mini honeymoon I told Manny-- I want to go upstate! I want to see colorful leaves! I want to feel the brisk weather of the fall (that just hadn't reached the city yet)
And what happened? Exactly that!

Here are some photos:

This restaurant (Lisa G's) has a funny menu:

Recap: the last few days

Sunday morning: Woodbury October 19

We walked for the fight against breast cancer early morning Sunday. The weather was decent and it was great to see a lot of people out for a good cause. Manny and I have a few family members who are breast cancer survivors! It's a great event for all woman (men and pets-- as we saw) to be apart of.

This is Kaitlin. she is our daughter/but not really. Lol (she's my cousin to clear that up)

Monday night: October 20

After my internship I headed to 14 th street to Irving Plaza super excited to see Gerard Way. I met up with my bro-in-law's girlfriend Ana for a much needed hang out.

I am a HUGE (or do I say was?) lover of My Chemical Romance. Does it make me super old to say I remember listening to them senior year of High school? Ayy. Any who, he has a solo career now. His new album is out hesitant alien, which I love!
The show was amazing. Gerard is just so talented (singing, and if you didn't know at drawing as well)

Before he sang Maya The Psychic, he shared that it is a song about mental illness. He shared how great it is that the country has made great progress in talking about mental illness, as well as gay rights, but we still have a long way to go. I love that he is an advocate for mental illness. I'm all for anyone working towards destigmatizing mental illness.
That's all for now!

Where is the hot chocolate?

Instead of spring cleaning let's call it "fall-basically winter is here-cleaning".
Remember all that laundry that needed to be done this weekend. Well it wasn't even touched. Looked at? Yes! But that was all.
This week is going to be pretty hectic with internship, work, and two shows I'll be attending (Gerard Way & The Maine), so most likely I'll be looking to the following weekend to start organizing.
We plan to give away a lot of clothing we don't wear that are in good condition. We just haven't been able to get to it.
We are now on a mission!! --away from procrastination station.

When we moved in together last year we did not think that bringing two loads of 26 years worth of stuff would make such a huge mess! Well it did.

Like someone I can't name said: you live and you learn.
Speaking of learning.
Leave it to me to not be prepared for this delightful introduction into the winter season. I have these comfortable shoes and nice blue pants that show the world my lovely ankles.
And it's about 40 degrees out here!
City weather; always changing, and I'm never prepared.
Let's provide a photo for future Ashley to hopefully learn from:
My friend Lindsay texted me this in response to my feeling embarrassed/dumb about my outfit choice: "relax. you're wearing pants not shorts"

I can always count on her to bring my butt back to reality.

Have a good day y'all!

I'll come back later to write about the weekend that kept me away from my home duties. :)

Saturday Morning

Gosh. The weekend is here! I have so many things to do. I feel like if I don't make a list I won't tackle anything today.
For some odd reason I woke up around 7 am, and just stayed in bed as Manny made up songs next to me. He's really good at that. They are usually silly songs that confess his love for me and most of the time wind up being about something sexual. don't ask.

So, I have to study for an upcoming midterm. I should do some laundry (I swear it looks like we have three months worth of laundry to do). Also I am thinking of cutting my hair again. AND last but not least on this lovely list of to do's are the thank you cards!

We ordered our thank you cards from Social Print Studio aka Prinstagram. They should have just sponsored our wedding, because our party favors were made and bought through them (photo magnets) and now our greeting cards.
They do such a great job at printing your instagram photos and they also send you a free sticker with each order <3 (my favorite.. i mean.. who doesn't love a free sticker?)

Here are pictures of the thank you cards...

cool huh? Those brown things are the envelopes which came with the order!

One thing I love so much is photography. I just love that you are able to capture memories and have them printed. Photos are like time capsules. Manny and I have about 10 cameras in our home (told you I love it). We have Instant film cameras, 35 mm film camera, some Lomography cameras, very ancient polaroid land cameras, and DSLRs. My NEW camera which was given to me as a wedding gift by my darling is a Lubitel 166! (shown below)
I was able to use it on our upstate-autumn-honeymoon, and I cannot wait until I develop the film! I will definitely share the photos on here once I have them. :)

one week anniversary! whoooo

two post in one day.

but I wanted to shared that today the hubby and I have been married for a WHOLE week. haha
feels so short compared to our 9 year relationship.. but HEY. I shall celebrate.

I wanted to share a lovely picture from that day that was oh so long ago….

October 9, 2014 to be exact!

I got to marry my best friend. I always thought it was cheesy hearing couples say that, but he truly is my best friend. I guess I have entered the club. We met as teens and grew up together.. boy did we grow up.. After all these years and through so many ups and downs we made it here. I am grateful.
***
When Manny and I spoke about getting married we spoke about a quick ceremony at the court house and going home after. Then we were asked if there would be food? If there was going to be a reception.
Honestly, there are a LOT of things that I am dealing with personally, and having been dealing with for sometime now that planning a big wedding was losing its appeal.
Manny proposed on June 1, 2013.
We planned a two year engagement and wanted an October wedding on our 10 th year of being together.
Right around a year and one month after the engagement we were feeling a bit overwhelmed and began throwing around the idea of a non-secretive elopement. We discussed Hawaii for the two of us, we discussed the same location with only his immediate family (because they just had to be there!) We even discussed surprising everyone and just showing up married one day.
We ended up planning (in a month) a court house wedding and a backyard reception. I shall share more pics of that day soon.

The first picture is the second part of the high five we did after being pronounced husband and wife. (you know.. like the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.. yeahh)

Driving off into the nonexistent sunset. (this was at about 2pm)

<3 Ashley

I guess this is hello...

So, hi there.
To blog or not to blog.
That is the statement, apparently.
I’ve been discussing with one of my closest friends on whether to start a blog or not. It’s been something I loved for years now.. In terms of constantly checking other blogs. I have a few favorite mom blogs (no, I am not a mom) and photography blogs (yes, I’m obsessed with photography. I am not a professional).
I just love that people can share a piece of their life with others in a not so private setting.
Introductions. I’m 27. I live in NY. In a county close to the city, which is sometimes considered upstate to non-New Yorkers, which I find pretty funny, but upstate peeps are not enthused.
Born and raised in the city. Mhmm.
I began attending grad school this fall. I know. Back in school.
Haven’t you had enough… You know with being in school since age 3??
I’m also interning as a mental health clinician, working [because I need to feed myself] and living with my sweet HUSBAND*.
Let’s just say there’s a lot going on in my life at this point.
Sometimes it’s overwhelming and I definitely can feel that I might explode, but there are other times when I have somewhat a handle on things and can sit back and appreciate where I’m at and where I’ve been… Those are the best times.
Well, thanks for reading… Or not. That’s okay too. Haha

*Still getting used to that..
It’s been a week!
